Jack Klein: Founder, CEO
Jack Klein has over 30 years sales and marketing experience in the nutraceutical industry. Mr. Klein founded one of the first herbal tea companies in the early 1970s. After the successful sale of the company, he founded and acted as President of Global Marketing Associates, Inc. (GMA), one of the major raw material suppliers to the industry. During his tenure, GMA successfully co-launched Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fatty Acids with Traco Labs; was the exclusive exporter of U.S. supplements and health foods to Daiei Drugs, the largest retail chain of stores in Japan; introduced CO Q10; and pioneered the sales of Ginkgo Biloba in the U.S. He helped develop a unique technology to enhance the attributes of garlic that is now being sold in Garlique® (the number one garlic supplement in the country) and other brands.
Mr. Klein has worked as a consultant in the natural products industry since 1990 specializing in strategic planning and marketing for individual products and companies, product development, and sales support. He has consulted for a number of key players in the industry: American Ingredients/Pharmachem, Cancer Wellness Institute, Glaxo SmithKline, La Haye Labs, Leiner Health Products, Müggenburg Extract, R.P. Scherer, Twin Labs and Unilever. His duties have included sales and marketing, strategic planning for individual product launches as well as for companies, and product development and formulations research for innovative products and technologies.


Gabrielle Klein: Principal, COO
Gabrielle Klein has worked in the dietary supplement industry since her junior year in college at UC Santa Barbara. After graduation in 1997, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area and began working for Jack Klein & Associates, Inc. She has assisted Jack Klein & Associates with numerous clients including Müggenburg Extract North America, American Ingredients, E.T. Horn and JaW Associates, LLC. Her responsibilities range from product development and formulations research to technical sales and sales support for specialty ingredients. Her duties include developing sales and marketing strategies, creating sales and marketing tools, technical sales, contributing to sales force training, developing internal office systems and customer service standards, preparing business and strategic marketing plans, scheduling advertising and PR, and organizing and scheduling tradeshows and tradeshow events.


Grant Washington-Smith: Associate–Business Development, Sales, Marketing
Grant Washington-Smith is the Managing Director of Roseville Consulting, a business development firm focusing on companies in the health and wellness industry and in the consumer products sector. With over 18 years experience in commercial development across the Life Sciences industry, Mr. Washington-
Smith spent the last nine years developing direct industry experience within the global natural health and beauty industry. On his return to New Zealand from the United States in 2006 and having spent several years as a Senior Business Development Manager for the world’s largest direct selling consumer lifestyle products company, Mr. Washington-Smith established Roseville Consulting to offer advice and support to small and medium enterprise companies and help plan and launch new business ventures and commercialize new technologies.
Mr. Washington-Smith primarily focuses on working with early stage business within the consumer centric health, wellness and beauty markets. These companies are involved in areas such as: personalized health and nutrition, functional food and beverage, wellness and healthy lifestyle sector, beauty and skincare, consumer health technology and home care devices. He graduated from the University of Otago in 1986 with a BSc (honors) in human physiology and gained an MBA in 2001 from Southern Cross University, Lismore, Australia.


Dan Hughes: Associate–Dietary Supplement Sales
Dan Hughes is an associate for JKA and a principle in New Products Plus, LLC, an affiliate company. Dan is a highly motivated sales professional with a proven high performance record of success in consistently meeting and exceeding quota expectations. He has a remarkable ability to develop trusted and long-term partnerships with customers and selling solutions that grow and profit their business. He also has exceptional account development and territory expansion expertise throughout the United States. Key strengths include relationship building, prospecting, account planning and strategizing.
Prior to his current role as an independent sales and business development consultant with New Products Plus, LLC, Dan had a distinguished sales career with Roche Vitamins/DSM Nutritional Products. They are a $2 billion (USD) manufacturer of dietary supplements used in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries. Supplements include vitamins, carotenoids, and dietary supplements used to fortify clients’ products. These include tablets, capsules, soft gels, nutrition bars, confections, powders, and beverages.

Patrice is a native New Yorker now residing in Alpharetta, Georgia. She studied at San Antonio College and George Mason University with a focus on business management. Patrice has been married for over twenty years and is a proud mother of three: Brandyn 20, Stephanie 19, and Kenyatta 11. Patrice has a strong background in Human Resources Management working for companies such as George Mason University, Virginia Department of Transportation and Market Source over an eight-year period. She began in Sales and Marketing in 1992 in the world famous Fashion District of New York City as a Sales and Marketing Manager for After Dark, LLC. She has been involved in the dietary supplement industry for close to ten years, focused on dietary supplement sales in the multi-level marketing sector.


Raulee Marcus: Associate–Personal Care Marketing and Development
Raulee Marcus is a specialist in driving companies to significant growth in revenue and profit in highly competitive industries. In her capacity as Corporate Officer for Neutrogena, she and her departments were credited with increasing revenue more than fourfold and profit more than eightfold in six years. At Colgate Palmolive, she led global turnaround and launch initiatives, one of which helped regain worldwide leadership in 30 countries and another unleashed a new $100 million (USD) global brand in a two-year rollout.
She is President of Pinnacle Management, which specializes in go-to-market strategies and tactics. Among her consulting clients are the governments of India and the People's Republic of China as well as Green Dot, the leading provider of financial products to the financially underserved. She is a Director for Bikestation, a triple bottom line company that provides a plug in for cities, transit centers, developers, and universities to provide a dependable, convenient, last-mile commute. She is a Director for Water-Jel Technologies, the leader in emergency response burn care. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College with an MBA from the American Graduate School, she represented Neutrogena at the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.


Marsha Friedman, CEO, Founder EMSI: Associate-PR
A prominent businesswoman, publicity expert, radio personality and public speaker, Marsha Friedman launched EMS Incorporated (EMSI) in 1990. EMSI works with corporations and experts in a wide array of fields such as business, health and fitness, food and beverage, travel and lifestyle, politics, technology, finance, law, sports and entertainment. Scott Tips, Esquire: Associate–Legal & Regulatory
Scott Tips received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1976, studied at the Sorbonne (Paris I) from 1976-1977, and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1980, where he was the Managing Editor of the California Law Review. A California-licensed attorney, he was admitted to the California Bar in 1980 and has specialized since 1983 in food-and-drug law and trademark law, but also engages in business litigation, general business law, and nonprofit organizations, with an international clientele. Since 1989, Mr. Tips has been the General Counsel for the National Health Federation, the United States' oldest health-freedom organization for consumers. A legal columnist, he also writes a monthly column for Whole Foods Magazine called Legal Tips, a column he started in 1984. Currently, Mr. Tips is occupying much of his time with health-freedom issues involving the Codex Alimentarius Commission and its and other attempts to limit individual freedom of choice in health matters.


Leslie Wada PhD, R.D.: Associate–Scientific Evaluation
Leslie Wada has a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. She received her BS from UC Davis and went on to receive her RD from UCSF. She then pursued her doctorate at UC Berkeley, where she graduated in 1983 after writing her dissertation on Zinc and Protein Utilization in Young Men Fed Low and Adequate Zinc Diets. She has taught various courses in Clinical and Therapeutic Nutrition through UC Berkeley. She worked as a research nutritionist on a number of published and non-published studies for UC Berkeley and Stanford throughout the 80s upon completion of her degree. Throughout the 90s she worked as a research nutritionist at Vitafort (a functional foods company), as a consultant evaluating scientific claims for infomercials, and as a founding partner and VP of R&D for Second Nature Technologies, Inc. She has been consulting in the food and nutrition industry since 1997 for various ingredient manufacturers, ingredient distributors and market development companies.
